Misty morning on the South Downs
Our regular rides take us on to some of the most scenic and enjoyable areas of the South Downs for off-road cycling.
The South Downs is a recognised area of outstanding beauty and was recently made one of the UK’s fifteen National Parks – promoted by the
South Downs National Park Authority: www.southdowns.gov.uk
We have carefully mapped out a mix of routes that take in sections of the South Downs Way, Monarch’s Way and many other bridleways that criss-cross the Downs to give varied and
interesting routes, taking in a mix of open Downs, woodland and lesser known tracks. These have all been ridden and risk assessed so we can alert you to trickier terrain or features to
look out for.
Tap for water on SDW
The terrain on the Downs is generally hard chalk with some flinty sections, making for fairly firm, flowing rides – with the occasional wetter sections to squelch through or pick a
drier line past. Wooded areas can get boggy in the Winter months, though we avoid the worst spots!
All our regular rides incorporate a mix of challenging hills – not much avoiding them on the Downs and they’re what make the experience so rewarding! We have avoided scary descents – our rides
are unlikely to appeal to those who want to test out advanced downhill skills. The fabulous terrain means we can guarantee excellent routes for building up endurance fitness. Call or email
if there’s more you would like to know about specific routes or what’s in store.
